Hello dA visitor :)
I am Tom, an experienced ex-professional photographer.
For a period of time the majority of my photography was commissioned work, including Sports (Ice Hockey), Weddings, and Portraits. However, since the recession hit, the already struggling photographic industry was just too difficult to continue so I ceased to trade and go back into full time employment.
I had spent a while away from any photographic work after being a bit burnt out by the issues in the industry and the constant stream of commissioned work, detracting from the art which I like the most.
This year however is different, I am working towards personal goals and integrating with the dA community and giving back to people that offer so much.
My goals, are to obtain a distinction from the Royal Photographic Society starting with the Licentiate, before hopefully moving to the Associateship in 2016, I plan to submit my panel of 10 images primarily focussed around Sports and Portraiture. My initial plans are 5 of each, or 5 action images accompanied by 5 portraits of the sports person.
I am now also shooting more than I ever did when working, and experience genres of photography that is out of my depth, this art has now become much more exciting.
I am also working on a series of articles via my journal that can be seen in the box below left, where I explore and explain the technical side of photographic equipment that causes so much confusion amongst amateur photographers.
Thank you for reading, and visiting my profile. I hope you enjoy my work, and it's always great to here comments and find new photographers to watch.
